What’s Homeschooling anyway?
Homeschooling is when; a parent decides to teach kids at home instead of sending them to any organization to learn. It’s when a parent decides what and what not to teach their kids on an individual level. Homeschooling parents don't have to follow through with a certain curriculum or push through any timestamps to get their child's education done.
If you want your Homeschooling journey to go smooth before you get started; it's good to dive a little into its Mechanism; give this book a Read. The book name is " The Brave Learner: Finding Everyday Magic in Homeschool, Learning, and Life". It's going to change your perspective, will give you a new aspect of Homeschooling.
Benefits of homeschooling:
- Kids are on their own most of the time so it’s easier for them to explore their interests and tendencies. They can dig deep into their field of interest and for them, as a matter of fact, the sky is the limit. Parents working as a facilitator, make sure; they let their kids find their field of interests and don't force them into certain subjects. If a kid is really good at mathematics, they can easily follow that tendency. They don't have to stick to certain grade mathematics at a time. They can explore more and study advanced concepts of Mathematics if the child is making progress and grasping well.
- With the help of the co-operations of other homeschoolers, kids get to work with kids of all ages. In this way, they get to learn faster at the pace of other elders. They learn to tackle things like other elders of the group.
- Kids aren't forced to study all the non-relevant subjects that they have no desire to study for, the way we were forced down our throats in our childhood. They aren't forced a certain way of learning style.
- They aren't supposedly forced to rot learn just for the sake of passing an exam. They aren't gauged by their grades. Guess what!!! Homeschoolers have no exams if they want to. They have to only study for the exams; they want to appear for. E.g. O’ Levels or A ‘levels. And that’s only if they want to. On the other hand, they can skip it altogether and go into some technical field.
- Here's great news. They don’t become victims of bullying. They can remain Under the patronage of parent and under their supervision as many hours as the parent want.
- Homeschooled kids can take extracurricular classes whenever and as many times a day they want. The money that was spent in schooling, they can invest the money now in more planned and desired activities and schedule them even better according to their suit.
- They don't have to spend a whole year completing the curriculum of a particular grade if they can cover those subjects in six months. They can surely move forward and get to study one-level up and study faster. Mostly, homeschooled kids usually do so. That way they can reach O levels early and complete their studies far before their school-going peers. Like most homeschoolers get to appear in their GCSE in their 13ns'. And get on to their practical life early on. They get the time to write books and delve into some research projects, community services, volunteer work and internships. It all depends on the child's capability to cope up with the studies according to their needs, capacities, and benefits.
I can keep babbling about the never-ending benefits of Homeschooling. Homeschooling is a way of life that, we have to learn to follow in the coming decades. Since, trends of worlds are changing. The courses of studies thats are emerging are artificial intelligence , data sciences, machine learning. The education system is also going to shift drastically as well as the emerging jobs of the future. Google, Apple, IBM are some of the companies that no longer want a college degree for someone to be their Highly-paid employee. Jim kwik writes in his book "limitless" , " if Rip Van Winkle woke up from decades of slumber, the only thing he would recognize today are classrooms, because they have evolved so little.
