Lately, I was thinking to write from my personal experience, on the topic of “Digital Toxification”, to highlight its poisonous stings on our lives and how it’s putting immense pressure on people of all ages.
Since I have also been the victim of this " Digital poison" for some time, I managed to get hold of it sooner. I'm gonna share what steps I followed to nip the evil in the bud (Check Golden tips).
Digital World had put me in a position where I started thinking that I was doing low on my life and lacking behind a great deal; that realization turns into the first milestone on the journey towards
anxiety, adding salt to already suppressed depression. at first, it was difficult to follow through those steps, but I said to myself that it's worth the effort when I saw the results. since those steps really changed my day and night for the better. I got my brain back and literally learned to use my brain; which was previously, hijacked.
I got my confidence back in my brain when I came to know that "the human brain has 100 billion neurons. each neuron connected to 10,000 other neurons makes my brain an exceptional device I have available at my disposal. it all depends on how I use it to my advantage.
Allah made all humans with the same mechanics, so, it brought me to the greatest conclusion ever, that is; I can do just about everything and anything, other individuals are doing on the face of this earth.
baffled yet?
Once you conquer "the confidence" part, rest is very easy to go about.
People's lives put on a show that results in; you; feeling less than others. Making you feel underestimated in hundred ways. It deprives you of your natural enthusiasm. the task at hand seems so huge that you even don't know where to begin, resulting in procrastination.
I’ll try to clarify a psyche through a parable.
Try to recall the psychological state when we’re preparing
to go to a wedding party or any get-together? Like, do we ever dare to show up
with our dirty clothes on? Do we ever dare to go without checking our faces and
doing the amendments needed, therein?
In any such scenarios, we put forward our outlook; which is only
decent and kept up.
In the same way, people on their social network, only put those
pictures, those memories and those activities up; which they really feel good
about.
And that’s the whole point; we are not supposed to compete
with those “timed accomplishments”. Since those posts are only a brighter part of
the story.
But, remember, “Every picture has two faces”.
Tell you what!! These Social Media Stories and posts work covertly; you don’t even realize how they alter your subconscious mind. They work like “malware” on your system. It really did to mine.
We will explore the “hack” to help you get rid of this rut. Let’s
explore how we can “detoxify” our lives from the poisons of the digital world.
But right before getting you there, I would want you to know your real enemies. so, there are four enemies we are facing in our lives and those enemies are all so cunning that we don't even know their "plan of action", that's why we get duped day and night.
let's dive in:🏊
Jim Kwik, Author of Limitless, identifies four villains of
our lives that put great constraints on our abilities, and on our subconscious
minds, keeping us at bay from living to our full
potential; affecting our positivity, productivity, affluence.
Those four villains are:
1. Digital overload
Our minds are bombarded with infinite information; which, we are
trying to consume within finite time. Today, we are exposed to the amount of Data
in a single day; that which, a person would consume in his whole lifetime in The 1400s. This Digital overload is negatively affecting our quality of life. 2015
data shows an average consumer spends eight hours a day on his phone.
2. Digital distractions
When you keep switching your tasks: like checking your phone;
constantly, while writing a report, you are training yourself to be
unproductive. It takes around 5 to 25 minutes to get the focus back when you
are interrupted between any given tasks.
Distractions are what make our life and our brain of low
quality. With the advancement of Always-on and connected devices 24/7, we are
struggling to focus on our work at hand. Staying on the grid makes you an
absent-minded person. Since your brain is scattered all over the place.
It is said goldfish has the shortest attention span, which
is 9 seconds. But human attention span
has gone down by 33 percent from 2000 to 2015. Human’s attention span is now
8.25.
Let’s take a distraction test to know your over-indulgence
3. Digital dementia
Extreme use of digital technology results in the collapse of your
cognitive ability. Short-term memory trails begin to fall apart from underuse.
You start to forget things since you are relying on an outside source and not on your
brain.
4. Digital deductions
In digitalized life, we put our technology to do the deductions for us to do the decision making. You give few resources extreme influence to do the thinking for you. So your ability to critically thinking and problem-solving is deteriorating. We are no longer very well capable of reflecting, reasoning, drawing conclusions based on our experiences, comprehension, and discernment.
