Motivation
Motivation is not a fixed thing. We don't have a set level of motivation.
Motivation is not something you need to wake up with every morning.
Motivation doesn't imply that you have to enjoy something you aspire to have.
Jim Kwik himself is not motivated to take a cold shower daily, but he does it anyway.
Motivation is not about having. Rather, it’s more of a doing.
Motivation is a process. And a strategy that you can create by constantly following a recipe.
It’s not at all necessary to feel good about the act to be motivated; Rather, one should have a stronger reason to act on something.
Like many people don't love the workout, but they do it anyway because they know the reward and the end result they will get from it. Results motivate them.
Strong reason:
You have to have a strong reason to do something. If you don't have a good reason to do something, you can't stick to it for longer.
If someone is lacking the required level of motivation, it must be that he has not determined his reasons.
Motivation=purpose ✖ energy ✖ S3 (small simple steps)
By combining purpose, energy, and small simple (S3) you get lasting motivation. Purpose propels us to take measures.
Asking "Why" will save you:
It’s really important to know why you wanna do what you wanna do.
Simon Sinek says: people don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it.
What's a Goal?
A goal is something we desire to achieve.
To achieve a goal you need to have SMART goals.
SMART is an acronym.
S is for specific:
Your goal has to be unambiguous. If you wish to lose weight, don't say I need to lose weight. Rather, paraphrase it like: I wish to lose 5kg in a week.
M is for Measurable:
To be in charge of a goal, you have to be able to measure it. Getting rich isn't measurable- having a certain amount a month is.
A is for Actionable:
We can't host a party without knowing how many people are coming. You need to have an action plan to acquire your goal.
R is for Realistic:
Your goals should be realistic. You can’t lose weight if you are eating junk every day.
T is for Time-based:
A goal is a dream with a deadline. Setting a time to finish your goal makes it more probable to acquire it.
Aligning your goals with your Heart:
One most important aspect is to have your goals aligned with your HEART.
H is for Healthy:
your goal should endow your mental, physical and emotional health.
E is for Enduring:
your goals should be able to inspire you during the adversities and hard times.
A is for Alluring:
your goals should be so appealing and tempting that you are pulled towards them.
R is for Relevant:
your goals should relate to the challenges your facing in life, your doctrines, and your life's purpose.
T is for Truth:
your goals should be not something that other people expect of you. Or something you are doing because everyone else is doing so.
Make sure your goals are what your true heart wishes are. It’s true to you. You live them.
Purpose:
People who have life's purposes are the ones who live with integrity. Such people know who they are, what they are, and why they are.
When someone's true to himself, his life becomes true to his core values.
Purpose Creates meaning:
Purpose creates meaning in life, gives life direction, and steers life's decisions.
Passion:
Passion and purpose are two things. Each fuels the other, finding passion in your life is like finding true love. Passion is what lights you up inside.
What you believe is what you are:
What you think about yourself is what you are:
The mightiest words in English are the shortest: I am.
Whatever phrase we put after these two words eventually becomes our identity and alters our destiny.
Homework:
Write a few of the most powerful “I am” statements to change your destiny.
write your goals and with each goal put all the reasons that you wanna achieve them for.
write a few of your passions down and you have your purpose ready.
